This Neo-Renaissance building is part of an urban complex of representative villas from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Between 1919 and 1920, its most famous resident was likely the French general Maurice César Joseph Pellé (1863–1924), commander of the French military mission in Czechoslovakia and later chief of the Czechoslovak General Staff of the armed forces. Today, the property is owned by the Prague 6 municipal district and, under the name Gallery Villa Pellé, has established itself on the cultural map as a venue presenting high-quality exhibitions by notable Czech and international visual artists. In addition, it offers educational programs for children and schools.
