The Neo-Renaissance Lanna Villa, designed in the style of an Italian suburban house, dates back to the late 19th century and ranks among the most important buildings of this style in Central Europe. It was commissioned by businessman, art collector, and patron Vojtěch Lanna Jr. (1836–1909) for his family and his art collections, and it served primarily as a summer residence. The villa’s interior is richly decorated with romantic paintings depicting scenes from Greek and Roman mythology, as well as allegorical motifs. Today, the villa is a representative property of the Czech Academy of Sciences. It is used mainly for ceremonial purposes, scientific conferences, and cultural events, and also functions as a hotel.
