Bílek Villa

Gallery of the Capital City of Prague

Mickiewiczova 233/1, Hradčany

This Art Nouveau villa with Symbolist elements was built in 1911 by František Bílek as his studio home. Although primarily a sculptor and graphic artist, Bílek felt a deep need to shape entire environments where his works could fulfil their purpose of spiritualising human life. The unique architecture and interior are inspired by natural forms and spiritual symbolism. Since 1963, the villa has been managed by the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague (GHMP). The newly opened permanent exhibition presents Bílek’s works from the peak of his creative career, alongside the original interior furnishings.
