Though they’re brothers, Peter and Ivan couldn’t be more different. Peter, in his thirties, is a successful lawyer in Dublin. After their father’s death, he struggles with insomnia and a strained relationship with two very different women—his first love Sylvia, for whom he still harbors feelings, and Naomi, a sarcastic university student. Ivan, a 22-year-old chess player, is nothing like his older brother. Shortly after their loss, he meets Margaret, an older woman, and they quickly fall into a passionate relationship. For both brothers, a new interlude begins—full of longing, despair, and unexpected opportunities, in which they must test how much their lives can bear before falling apart.
