Irene believes she experienced the perfect marriage. Years of complete devotion and passion—this is how she remembers her relationship with her late husband, Marcel. Their bond was dazzling, awe-inspiring: two people living solely for each other, as if every day were their first. This overwhelming love kept them isolated from the outside world, detached from reality. After Marcel’s death, Irene’s world crumbles. But she discovers an unusual way to stay connected with him—so she can go on living. This novel explores what it means to be alive and to love, portraying a woman trapped in a deeply personal and ultimately fatal utopia.
