Chetna Maroo

Eleven-year-old Gopi has been playing squash since she was old enough to hold a racket. After her mother dies, her father introduces a new training regime—at first seemingly harmless, but increasingly strict and even brutal. Gopi begins drifting apart from her two sisters as her entire world contracts to the rhythms of the sport: serve, volley, hit. But she’s not alone on the court. Her father is there. So is Ged, a gifted 13-year-old boy. So are the players who came before her.
