Which side of the table is home to the bigger fool? Job interviews can change lives or completely ruin them. All it takes is a mug decorated with Moomins or a misread map. In his collection of humorous short stories with surprising twists and endings, Swedish writer and entertainer Jacob Sundberg plays with the idea that we can be whatever we want to be. Really? Nine job applicants are currently facing a potential employer. Which one will have to deal with an invisible cat? Which one is about to get a call from Bob Dylan? And who will find out that they have a “yellow personality”? Let yourself be drawn into the characters’ world of ideas, where just about anything is possible.

Jacob Sundberg (* 1981) is a Swedish writer and journalist with a keen sense of the irony and absurdity of everyday life. He grew up in the industrial region of Bergslagen, whose transformations and social tensions are reflected in his sensitive perception of the present and of human identity. He made his literary debut with the short story collection We’ll Let You Know (2018), in which he captures the world of job interviews as a condensed portrait of contemporary society – with humor and unsettling precision. In 2021, he followed up with the novel Förunderlig nåd (Wondrous Grace), in which, against the backdrop of a declining small town, he unfolds a story of loss, faith, and the search for meaning in a time of personal and societal crisis.
