LITERATURE NIGHT 2015
13th May, 2015
6 pm - 11 pm
Public readings of contemporary world literature performed by well known personalities at attractive and unusual venues in Prague and other cities across the Czech Republic and Europe.
Literature Night builds on the concept of literature being a unique creative medium which embraces the voices of individuals along with the values of the society they live in. The project aims to bring contemporary literature to the general public in an innovative way through a series of public readings and accompanying events.
The readings are only in Czech language and start at 6.00 pm – the same for all locations and continue every half an hour until 10.30 pm. You can choose your own route. The excerpts will be read by 23 well known Czech actors.
This year's event is held in cooperation with Prague 6 and under the auspices of its mayor Ondřej Kolář. The Literature Night is held as every year on the eve of the biggest book fair in the country – Book World Prague. Many authors arrive to participate at the Literature Night as part of their presentation at the book fair. This year, you can meet 9 writers which is more than ever before.
The project is being coorganized and supported by the EUNIC cluster Prague (a network of foreign cultural institutes), the Embassies and The Permanent Representation of the European Commission in Prague. Furthermore, thanks to the cooperation with the Association of librarians, Literature Night will take place for the second time in the same model in 36 other cities throughout the Czech Republic.
