Translation: Iris Riedel
In her first novel the young author describes a story of Gerta Schnirch, mother of a several-monthold daughter, who is along with other Germans from Brno ‘moved’ towards Vienna. Gerta is one of those who survive the exhausting march. After regaining the Czechoslovakian citizenship she comes back to Brno where she lives through another set of turbulent events which marked the second half of the twentieth century.
